SVH has an affinity for nonprofits
serving communities of color
In today’s workforce, people of color (African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans) make up less than one-fifth of executive positions in the nonprofit sector, and reports indicate that this number has not changed over the last 10 years, even as the populations have grown. Increasing the number of nonprofits, social entrepreneurs and social sector leaders who come from, and look like the communities they serve will strengthen their efforts and their impact.
PERFORMANCE. IMPACT. DELIVERED.

Visioning Process
SVH believes that the visioning process is one of the most important responsibilities of a nonprofit organization’s executive and volunteer leadership. All too often, strategic planning results in a hefty document inefficiently prepared over time that ends up unused. Properly created fundraising strategies for nonprofits should live up to its name: a plan for action that positions the organization strategically, frames good and objective decision making, and holds leadership accountable for meeting concrete milestones within a defined time frame.
Strategy, Evaluation & Planning
What do we hope to accomplish, influence, affect? How do we get there? Nonprofits must raise these questions every few years and the answers should comprise the bulk of a strategic planning document.
SVH believes strategic planning is one of the most important responsibilities of a nonprofit organization’s executive and volunteer leadership. The strategic planning process involves a combination of research, team meetings, and recommendations over a period of time. The final product is a report, that is focused, concise, and realistic.
Board Development
Though the nonprofit board is an old model, it can be effective and contemporary if it works closely with the CEO/ED and asks the big questions. Boards need to recruit carefully and clearly convey expectations and guidelines. And board members must give and be active fundraisers on behalf of the organization. SVH can help set your board on the path to success. SVH facilitates training passionate advocates to become effective leaders, capable of requesting and closing gifts of trans-formative significance.
Development Audit
The principle goal of the development audit is to evaluate your organization's commitment to and preparedness for an assertive, comprehensive philanthropic program. Working in conjunction with you, SVH will analyze your organization's ability to carry out fund-raising efforts; examine the status of fund-raising efforts at your organization; review the organizational structure with specific reference to development; conduct an attitudinal survey among selected community leadership and volunteer leaders regarding your organization and development program; and make recommendations specific to your institution.
Fundraising & Special Events
SVH conceives and orchestrates creative, successful fundraising campaigns, appeals and special events. Knowing full well that, without adequate dollars, nonprofits simply can’t do what they do best. Creative and results-focused fundraising is absolutely necessary for a nonprofit to thrive. SVH can work closely with your organization to achieve results that meet and ultimately surpass expectations. SVH will demystify the elements of a successful campaign to help your organization soar to new heights.
Interim Development Management
During times of transition, SVH provides a hands-on partnership to nonprofit leaders and help them navigate change to achieve their fundraising goal.
Annual Giving
Your annual fund is the lifeblood of your operations. SVH can help advance every aspect of your annual giving program the lifeblood of daily operations and base on which all other philanthropy is built. SVH can analyze and assist with every aspect of your program, from materials and calendars to plans and strategies.

About
Sylvia V. Henry - SVH Consulting provides boutique-style nonprofit consultancy that came about holistically. While experiencing more than 30 years working for nonprofit organizations of all sizes she began encountering and the same issues over and over; great missions being hampered by challenges affecting their impact and outcomes. From nonoperational strategic planning, lack of board development, lack of engagement, and encumbered operations, to lack of diversity and inclusion to addressing inequities within philanthropy. With the belief none of these factors stand alone to the path to success; with a breadth and depth of experience to contribute to a nonprofit's capacity to face and overcome challenges. Sylvia began independently consulting in 2014.
